Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2015-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2015

The 2004 Barolo Cerequio, which I have tasted a few times recently, has aged faster than I had originally expected, although from magnum it is quite a bit fresher than from bottle. Crushed flowers, mint, spices, white pepper and orange peel add a sense of lift as the Cerequio fleshes out. Open-knit and nicely layered, the 2004 is a good choice for drinking over the next few years.

Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2014-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2007

The 2004 Barolo Cerequio has been nothing short of profound on the four previous occasions I have tasted it and it is equally superb now that it is in bottle. It flows from the glass with a beautiful, pure expression of roses, flowers, sweet spices and ripe red fruit. This richly-textured, sumptuous Barolo literally shimmers with glorious fruit from start to finish. The glorious, complete 2004 Cerequio is a superb effort from the inspired Roberto Voerzio.

Good full medium red. Lower-toned aromas of plum, menthol, herbs and woodsmoke; less fruity than La Serra. Then spicy and quite tight in the mouth, with its oaky side and strong underlying structure currently dominating. A bit awkward from the late August bottling, with its floral and fruity elements currently in the deep background, but this appears to have an even firmer structure than La Serra. The big tannins reach the incisors.
