(bottled in March of 2013): Bright but reticent aromas of lemon and crushed rock. Densely packed and fine-grained, with an exhilarating sugar/acid balance to the penetrating candied lemon and spice flavors. This very intense, sharply focused wine finishes with explosive saline minerality. Superb. (My sample of the 2011 Chevalier-Montrachet was much more exotic and sweet than the sample I tasted from barrel a year ago, but as I tried it from a 375-milliliter bottle--the two other '11s were from standard 750s--I will assume that my bottle is not representative of this cuvee.)

Exotic and utterly beguiling, the 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Les Demoiselles is drop-dead gorgeous. A wealth of honey, white truffle and orange peel notes wrap around the palate in a voluptuous, explosive wine. Hints of lime, lychee and tropical fruit add attractive overtones of pure complexity and nuance. The 2011 stands out for its glycerin and pure palate weight. This is a dazzling wine from Colin-Deleger. The 2011 was vinified in two 350 liter barrels, one of which was new.
Good lift and raciness. Chalky palate. Lovely texture and balance. Great tension. Well done! Might even be worth the money... (JR)
