The 2024 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Serpentières ler Cru has an attractive nose, well defined with dark berry fruit, light earthy scents and a touch of truffle. The palate is delicate compared to previous vintages, yet there is elegance and sapidity and it urges you back for more on the finish. This should drink well from its youth.

Cask sample. Somewhat unapproachable and severe right now. The nose is pretty, light raspberries and roses, but it’s a bramble thicket of astringency and tannins on the palate. Slight green-leaf note on the finish. It probably needs plenty of time in bottle. (TC)

Glowing ruby. Perhaps a touch of oak in support of the evidently much denser fruit. Firm and powerful in the mouth, but red fruit nonetheless, and still not the core of intensity through the middle. But Serpentières doesn’t really do that. It is more about the length.
