2001 Uccelliera Rapace

The 2001 Rapace, a Sangiovese-Cabernet, demonstrates why this vintage is already creating high expectations at Montalcino. A dark ruby in color, the ripe notes of black and red currants, the minerals and graphite, and the herbs and spices are all expansive on the nose, broad and solid on the palate, rich in texture, and long in flow. Drink: 2005-2015. Andrea Cortonesi’s wines continue to convince and to please, and these are three well made efforts.
