Pouring a deep magenta/ruby color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is ripe and expressive with aromas of sweet cedar, polished leather, black cherries, and vanilla bean. Full-bodied, it has ample structure, with an angular and snappy lift, firm tannins, and a tangy lift of acidity on the back palate. It’s an expressive Brunello to drink over the coming 6-7 years.

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is darkly floral yet youthfully coy, with an earthy mix of dusty stone, spiced orange and dried black cherries. It soothes with its juicy acidity and silken textures as tart wild berry fruits and inner herbal tones resonate throughout. The 2019 leaves a pleasantly bitter tinge. The mouth waters for more as suggestions of salted licorice and tart red plum slowly fade over a bed of wood-grain tannins. The Martoccia di Brunelli matures in a mix of 80% Slavonian oak and 20% French barriques.
Deep to dark ruby. Dusty oak notes mingle with rich cherry fruit on the nose. Plenty of supple, concentrated sour-cherry fruit, with drying tannins from the oak that will settle with an additional year in bottle. Overall, this is rather easy-going, while I’d expect more than that. (WS)
