Bright, light yellow. More tangy and exotic on the nose than the Montmains, offering scents of orange oil, toast and spices. Concentrated, fine-grained and quite suave on the palate, with nicely integrated acidity giving shape and definition to the strong yellow fruit and white pepper flavors. A firm, seamless, mouthfilling premier cru with noteworthy energy and length. These vines are on a very steep slope, according to Alexandre Colas.

The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin is matured in 90% stainless steel and the remainder in wood for ten months. It has a well-defined bouquet, with scents of citrus lemon, granite and smoke. The palate is lively and vivacious on the entry, thanks to that vibrant acidity. This is nicely balanced and tensile, delivering attractive yellow plum and citrus-peel notes on the finish. Very fine.

15% aged 10 months in 2- to 5-year-old barrels. Attractive and already complex aroma: stony, herbal and delicate citrus. Chalky texture and good length. Real tension and vivacity here. (JH)

(15% aged in fût ): Complex nose melds peach, nectarine, orange peel, minerals and dusty brown spices. In a ripely fruity style but nicely supported by minerality and harmonious acidity and complicated by saline soil tones. Finishes with good extract and lingering lemony perfume.
