The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino mixes dark earth tones with ashen stones, crushed fall leaves and balsamic-laced dried black cherries to form its pleasantly mature bouquet. It’s more lively on the palate, vividly focused on ripe red fruits and autumnal spice as a crunch of minerality and edgy tannins contrast its silken textures. Vibrant acidity maintains freshness throughout as the 2006 leaves a tinge of bitter cocoa and nuances of sour citrus to pinch at the cheeks, finishing long and lightly structured yet not forbidding. While its bouquet edges toward the tertiary realm, there’s still a lot of life left here and lovers of mature wine will certainly rejoice.

Good deep red. Lovely perfumed aromas of dark raspberry, minerals, smoke, coffee, rose petal and sexy oak spices. Dense, sweet and seamless, with captivating depth of fruit. Really saturates the palate on the long, ripely tannic finish. At once broad and perfumed, this is a lovely example of sangiovese.
