Punteggio 90+/100 · Da bere 2022-2032, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2016

Medium red. Intriguing aromas of strawberry, smoky minerality, herbs, spices and iodine. Supple but quite dry, showing very good lift and a firm underlying spine to flavors of bitter cherry, spices and earth. Much more closed and tannic than a barrel sample I tasted in the fall of 2014. There's nothing easy about this solidly structured Corton today.

Bright medium red with a palish rim. Medicinal red cherry and raspberry fruit aromas are complemented by pronounced crushed-rock minerality. Sweet, supple and fine-grained but youthfully taut, displaying compelling floral lift to the red fruit, crushed rock and earth flavors. In a rather feminine style, without a trace of rusticity. Corton in a Chambolle direction. Finishes suave and long, with fully supported tannins. This should age beautifully.

The 2013 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru (under the Domaine des Heritiers Jadot label) has a slightly high-toned, quite opulent bouquet with kirsch, cassis and raspberry preserve scents that gradually calm down in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine line of acidity and a slightly "blocky" finish that does not quite possess the finesse of the Corton-Greves at this premature stage. Hopefully, it will mellow and manifest more refinement when in bottle.

Bright cherry red. Quite haunting and sumptuous on the nose. Very sweet palate impact. Loose initially and then very minerally and tightened up on the finish. Quite a success, though far from super intense. (JR)
