The 2013 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru has a slightly simple nose, orchard fruit and candle wax, a little muffled, perhaps. The palate has dried peach and almost pumpkin-like notes on the entry, waxy-textured and a lot of extract, but it needs more freshness and tension on the finish, which has a touch of residual bitterness. Drink now.

Pale yellow. Brisk, subtle aromas of pineapple and crushed stone. Supple, juicy and laid-back, showing noteworthy precision to the flavors of lime, minerals and spices. A tad spiky, even tannic, on the aftertaste but this soil-driven wine has personality and should evolve slowly.
Hint of struck match here but otherwise not especially aromatic. Stony, dry and edgy. Lean but not thin. Long finish but rather linear. (JH)
Candied lemon and a hint of honey on the nose. Boasts good texture and density but comes across as more youthfully bound up than the Chevalieres, with bright acidity and underlying minerality giving it a firm spine. Finishes with an intriguing interplay of salty and sweet elements. This should evolve nicely.
