Note di degustazione
Dark earth and leather tones combine with balsamic spices and medicinal black cherries as the 2006 Brunello di Montalcino unfolds in the glass. It is soothingly round with a core of zesty acidity and stern minerality for balance as a collage of ripe red and black fruits mingles on the palate. A slightly dank sensation on the finish reveals its maturity as the 2006 leaves an herbal resonance to linger.

Aromas of plum, menthol, nuts and cedar. Much silkier and fleshier than the basic bottling, with round flavors of cedar, cured tobacco and camphor. Broad and fairly full but could use a bit more definition and verve. Finishes with fairly smooth tannins.
The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a beguiling bouquet of pipe tobacco, herbs, licorice and sweet spices. Layers of well-delineated fruit follow, supported by silky, elegant tannns. The wine is beautifully open and expressive today, but aromas and flavors are a touch forward for the vintage, suggesting it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.
