Good pale color, like all of these 2005s. Reticent but perfumed nose offers subtle orange and stone notes. Juicy, pure and fine, with lovely grip and clarity to its flavors of lime, white flowers and stone. A very youthful, aromatically complex wine with terrific vivacity for the year. But not at all an easy style, and in need of aging. In both '05 and '06, these vines produced between 35 and 40 hectoliters per hectare, noted Latour. I can't recall a more promising young wine from this estate.

Lemon, lime, grapefruit and a smoky whiff of charred barrel on the nose; Latour finds this "a bit violent." Then pure, penetrating and rather powerful, with very fresh flavors of soft citrus fruits and grapefruit. A solidly structured wine with considerable potential. Latour's vines are mostly toward the top of this vineyard, which he says allows him to wait for more ripeness without losing acidity as quickly as those with vines at the base of the slope.
