Lastly, the 2008 Le Pauillac De Chateau Latour is the entry level wine of the estate, and it’s a medium-bodied, classic Pauillac offering plenty of lead pencil, dried herbs, graphite, and currant aromas and flavors. It’s straight, elegant, and balanced on the palate, and is drinking at point.

Composed of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 55% Merlot and tipping the scales at an impressive 13.5% alcohol, the 2008 Pauillac exhibits lots of cedarwood and black currant notes. Quite evolved, medium-bodied, and already very complex, this wine will drink well for another 5-8 years.
Bibendum will have this third wine from the 2004 vintage for the UK on-trade and BBR for the off-trade in the UK rather than Lay & Wheeler as in the past. Deep crimson with a purple tinge. The only blend that might change very slightly – maybe add a little bit more press wine or something. Really rather seductive nose. You could almost drink this now! Very polished and rich and zesty. Pretty clever. Hint of malt that softens it. Then scrunched up on the finish. Clean and neat. Lots of Merlot. (JR)
