Bright pale yellow. High-pitched aromas of white peach, wild herbs, anise, flowers, tiramisu and sexy spices. Dry and classic in the mouth, offering a captivating blend of white fruits, flowers, herbs and saline minerality. Very silky, long premier cru with a finishing note of menthol.

One of the larger-scaled wines in this lineup of 2011s, Boillot's 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières boasts gorgeous volume and amplitude buffered by generous, vibrant minerality. The Folatières impresses for its overall balance and sense of harmony.

(Not yet released) Henri Boillot recently finished his move to a new modern cellar in Champ Lins, one of the industrial sections of Meursault. Boillot describes his 2011s as having a bit more richness and better balance of fruit and acidity than the 2010s. Based on what I tasted, it’s hard to argue that point. Boillot seems to be one case where the 2011s have the potential to be better across the board than the 2010s. As is often the case here, the village wines are particularly strong. This is notably riper than the Perrières with a deft touch of wood setting off notes of dried apricot, peach, acacia blossom and a hint of mango. There is excellent concentration to the suave and very round flavors that exude a fine minerality on the lemony finish that displays just a hint of warmth. Note that there is a lot of gas present so be sure to decant this if you are going to try a bottle now. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2017+
