Note di degustazione
(14.8% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Aromas of dark berries, black licorice and mocha. Sweet and pliant on entry, then firmer and cooler in the mid-palate, showing solid medicinal reserve to its blackberry and licorice flavors. Still quite primary, even a bit youthfully stunted, and evolving at a snail's pace. Finishes with serious palate-saturating tannins that call for another five years of patience.

The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a youthful purple color to the rim along with full-bodied, beautifully knit, creme de cassis, floral and forest floor characteristics, an impressively concentrated, rich, layered texture, and undeniable length. This 2004 is just entering adolescence and should continue to drink well for another 10-15+ years. Anticipated maturity: now-2025+. From the well-known, highly-respected winemaking consultant Heidi Barrett’s home property, La Sirena has consistently made powerful yet elegant Cabernet Sauvignons that withstand the test of time. Mocha, cigar box and faint dried herbs on the nose. Layer of cassis, plum, coffee and spice flavour. Solid structure, good acidity and complexity. Sophisticated rather than showy. Former Screaming Eagle winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett’s own wine. (LM) $150
