Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2014-2020, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes is beginning to really blossom in bottle. It has a reserved, stony, sea cave-scented bouquet that draws you in, though you have the feeling it is holding something back from those willing to cellar this Puligny. The palate is very well balanced with a gentle, spicy entry with notes of bruised apple, pear and a dash of pepper. It finishes it quite Zen-like fashion, but what is lacks in fruite it compensates with tension, so much so that it feels more like a 2010 than a 2009. Minimalist!

Yellow-straw color. Deep aromas of peach and hazelnut oil. Big, broad, rich and deep, showing near-grand cru weight and concentration to its peachy fruit. The chewy finish features good lemony cut and really stains the palate with flavor. Boudot noted that he has not acidified any of his wines since 2006.

The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes is a somewhat ethereal wine. It floats on the palate with layers of understated fruit, showing lovely persistence and an understated, classy personality. Nevertheless, it is not an immediate wine, but rather a wine that needs time in bottle to show the full breadth of its personality. This is a fabulous showing. (AG)

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2013, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Aug 2011

The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes is a somewhat ethereal wine. It floats on the palate with layers of understated fruit, showing lovely persistence and an understated, classy personality. Nevertheless, it is not an immediate wine, but rather a wine that needs time in bottle to show the full breadth of its personality. This is a fabulous showing. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. This is a beautiful set of wines from Etienne Sauzet. Proprietor Gerard Boudot emphasized the importance of keeping yields low and picking early. The harvest began on September 7. Boudot did a very light batonnage, and the wines saw approximately 20% new oak. The 2009s were bottled beginning in August 2010, but the premier and grand crus weren’t bottled until March 2011.
