The 2008 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre exhibits beautiful aromas of oystershell, iodine, lemon oil and wheat toast, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and incisive palate that's built around a tangy line of acidity, concluding with a stony finish. At age ten, it has entirely integrated its new wood and offers a resounding validation of Droin's winemaking.

Wonderfully correct and tautyet with lots of green fruit juice. Very pure and correct and exciting. Real poise and focus. Pretty good value really for a wine that is great already but clearly has a long way to go. No showing off. Just real purity. (JR)
Pale yellow. Strong silex and orange scents on the reticent nose. Densely packed with sweet fruit but showing a rather powerful spine of minerality today; this strikes me as a more harmonious version of the Mont de Milieu. Finishes saline, taut and very long, with typical notes of scallop shell and iodiney minerality.
Very lively and much more ethereal than the regular Chablis. Racy and sleek yet with lots of substance. (JR)
