Note di degustazione
Tar, smoke, licorice, black cherry compote and dark spices jump out of the glass in La Colombina's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino. Drink this powerful, masculine Brunello over the next handful of years. The virile style does not leave much to the imagination, but in the right setting the 2010 will provide plenty of immediate gratification. Ideally, the 2010 needs a few hours of air to allow the fruit to fully release. When it does, the 2010 is a real beauty.

Boasting a beautiful dark color and rich concentration, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino awards a good sense of varietal character. There is a lot of layering here and the wine most certainly veers toward a more extracted style of Sangiovese. Nonetheless, the grape's delicate nuances of dried berry, cassis, blackberry, red earth and pressed rose petal come through loud and clear. Very pretty mineral tones form dusty accents on the edges. The mouthfeel and tannic structure are firm and lively. This is a very attractive wine.
Already mature-looking ruby with orange rim. A bit stalky and herbal on the nose. Rather tough tannins with not enough fruit to buffer this. (WS)
