2019 Monteraponi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Bragantino

The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Bragantino is an intriguing wine. It emerges from a young vineyard planted with 100% Sangiovese using clones sourced from Isole e Olena. There's terrific nuance to the fruit. Aging of 42 months in cask is on the longer side and left the wine with some slightly oxidative notes. I much preferred this from cask, when it was spectacular. This is a pliant Gran Selezione, but the aromas are maturing.
