Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2021-2030, Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com, Mar 2021

Just mid ruby. Lots of concentrated, savoury cherry fruit on the nose and with touches of exotic spice and Moroccan leather. Truly supple and mouth-filling and juicy. Proper tannic bite on a succulent finish. (WS)

The 2016 Innocenti Brunello di Montalcino is from south-facing slopes north of the town of Montalcino where brothers Gianni and Massimo Innocenti operate their small family owned estate. The wine offers rustic aromatics of spiced plum, aniseed, saddle leather and dusty earth. The palate is full of dried sour cherry, amaro, and tomato leaf, with angular tannins and tangy acidity. The 2016 opened up quickly with some air and is a rich, food friendly and traditional expression. Drink over the next ten years.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2024-2034, Eric Guido, Vinous, Nov 2020

There’s an old-world rusticity to the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino that sets it apart, urging you to dig deeper into its dark and rich bouquet. Black cherries, mentholated herbs and white smoke come forward over time. Its textures are velvety in feel, giving way to an elegant expression of ripe black fruits, spiced orange and hints of lavender. Cooling acids, mint and a hint of air-dried and smoked meats remains, along with fine tannins which tug at the senses.
