Note di degustazione
A brilliant, pure ruby color tapers off to translucent roses in the 2001 Brunello di Montalcino. The 2001 shows a classic, thrilling bouquet that mixes masses of crushed black cherries, brown spice and leather with a whiff of flowery undergrowth. This is all about poise and purity, with a vivid display of young strawberry, cranberries, licorice and hints of sour citrus. There’s an unbelievable amount of pent-up energy here, creating a tense and youthful feel. The 2001’s tannins have completely resolved, releasing an inner sweetness that comes forward through the long, floral finish. The only sign of maturity is a mineral underpinning that comes forward on the nose over time, yet this is splitting hairs when talking about a wine with so much grace and beauty. Sangiovese purists, take note; this is simply stunning! Sampled from the winery cellar.

Sweet and floral on the nose, Il Marroneto’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino is a soft, medium-bodied wine, with attractive notes of super-ripe red fruits and an accessible, open personality. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016. Importer: Riviera Import, Long Island City, NY; tel. (917) 328-8830
The 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazia is darker in color and presents a more intense expression in its notes of flowers, minerals, menthol, earthiness and ripe dark fruit. More structured than the normal bottling, it will also drink at its finest with a few additional years of bottle age. Anticipated maturity
