A very polished and refined bottle with creamy, velvety tannins that are poised and fine. Medium-bodied with a lovely center palate and a flavorful finish. A little tight at the end. Try after 2022 and onwards.

The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto La Casuccia is a powerful, explosive wine. Almost unnaturally so. In most vintages, the Casuccia is a sensual, racy wine. Not in 2015. Readers will have to be especially patient. Time in the glass brings out the wine's more floral side and a range of red-toned fruit.
Compared to Castello di Ama's other top Gran Selezione expressions, the 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto la Casuccia offers thick brushstrokes of ripe fruit, spice and crushed stone. Perhaps this wine has less depth compared to the others, but this is only by a tiny fraction. This wine exhibits immediate boldness, suppleness and richness, especially in this warm and exuberant vintage. The wine finishes with dark fruit flavors and firmly structured tannins.
