Light, bright yellow. High-pitched perfume of white peach, pear, crushed rock, ginger and lime blossom. Painfully intense and brisk, with terrific salty mineral cut enlivening the peach and pear fruit flavors. Sharply delineated and brisk but with the density of the vintage's better example. This highly concentrated, refined premier cru finishes with terrific rising length and palate-staining minerality. Has the grip to support a long evolution in the bottle, but even today this very youthful wine has no rough edges.

Some vaguely ethereal top note. Great tension. This producer seems to have done particularly well in 2014. Finely etched and still youthful. (JR)

The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1Er Cru Caillerets has a little more exoticism on the nose, a touch more plushness than the Boudriotte with hints of limestone and chalk overlaid by yellow plum and citrus scents. The palate is finely balanced, that limestone terroir articulated through the wine and lending great tension on the finish. Yet another extraordinarily promising Chassagne-Montrachet from Fontaine-Gagnard.

Mineral-driven aromas of crushed rock, ginger and fleur de sel lifted by a lavender high note. Taut and rocky but harmonious, even silky; a cut above the previous wines in tension and intensity. This very pure, stony, citrussy wine finishes with slowly building length and terrific grip and perfume. The yield from these hillside vines was below 35 hectoliters per hectare, noted Fontaine. Should make a splendid example of this outstanding premier cru.
