A curious wine this, with bottle deposit lining the inside of the bottle and by far the most sediment. Crimson and a relatively light rim. Big, sweet but rather simple, so much so that the acidity is rather showcased. Solid, earthbound, sweet and flattering to the taster but not flattered by being next to the much more engaging, subtler Lafite. (JR)
Dark crimson right out to the rim. Very Margaux attack (aromatic) with good intensity to begin with but this wine went nowhere in the glass. Fragrant and pretty to begin with it was relatively light on the palate and the fruit seemed to recede in the glass. Difficult to imagine this getting much better and more complex. (JR)
