Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2026-2036, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2026

One of the highlights in this tasting, the 2016 Geremia is wonderfully vibrant in the glass. Brisk acids and beams of supporting tannin lend palpable freshness. Interestingly, the 2016 Geremia has aged better than the 2016 San Marcellino. This is another vintage where the Cabernet Sauvignon is on the higher side. Its contribution to aging is evident. This really explodes on the back end in grand style. Superb.

The 2016 Geremia is even better than it was last year. Fresh, vibrant and full of energy, the 2016 is so wonderfully alive in the glass. The flavors are remarkably intense, and yet there is a feeling of lightness that keeps the wine brilliant. Crushed rocks, menthol, licorice, sage and gravel wrap around a core of blue/purplish fruit. There is something about the 2016 that is magical, many things, actually. Geremia is one of the most distinctive and unique wines in Chianti Classico. The 2016 is absolutely stellar.

Gaiole in Chianti. 75% Merlot harvested between 26 and 28 September, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon harvested on 11 October. The vineyard is in Monti in Gaiole in Chianti. Aged for 24 months in barriques (66%) and tonneaux (34%) of Allier oak: 12% first passage, 21% second passage, 33% third passage and 34% fourth passage, followed by 15 months in bottle. Unfiltered. Certified Organic. Deep, almost impenetrable ruby. Seductive and complex at the same time. A nose of pure, intense raspberry supported by complex oak. Mouth-filling, suave succulent red fruit with a layer of powdery tannins underneath. Sheer class. (WS)

A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in barrel and tonneaux, the 2016 Toscana Rosso Geremia has a juicy, vibrant bouquet of black cherries, cassis, tobacco, and chocolate. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with notable elegance and purity, it's an undeniably delicious red to drink over the coming decade.
