The 2013 Vin Santo is a wild, exotic wine. Dried figs, brown sugar, toffee and exotic floral notes all run through this dark, viscous Vin Santo. Plush and flamboyant to the core, the 2013 is superb. Readers should expect an especially opulent, tropical style.

Dark amber. The liquid that flows out of the bottle has the viscosity of a syrup. A deep, heady, alluring and exotic nose of dried fig and dates with a peppery tingle. Molasses and orange-blossom honey with a savoury, spicy undertow. An elixir rather than a wine, with intense sweetness that doesn’t get cloying. It is like a spoonful of honey over dried figs. An awesome wine that will age gracefully for decades to come. (WS)
