Note di degustazione
All Grenache grown at high-altitude, the grapes for 2021 La Basseta are the last picked by the winery, allowed to develop slowly and retain acidity. Half the wine is fermented in concrete and the other half in aged French oak, then blended together. There’s a remarkable refinement to the wine that captures its profound slatey quality despite its considerable full-bodied power and concentration. The fruit is subtle, red and tart, but there’s more spice, herb, and slate that’ll stay with you on the lengthy palate. Enjoy best 2030-2038.

The 2021 La Basseta is a village red from La Vilella Alta and was produced with Garnacha from one vineyard (in the process of being classified as viña clasificada) in the highest part of the village at 500 meters above sea level. This is the last vineyard they harvest, at the end of October. The wine matured in used 228- and 500-liter oak barrels, followed by 12 months in concrete and foudre. It's floral and perfumed, quite showy, juicy and with abundant tannins. It's ripe and comes in at 15.5% alcohol and has a pH of 3.5. It's powerful but balanced and finishes dry with dusty minerality. Very Priorat. It should age nicely in bottle. 4,000 bottles were filled in March 2024.
