(from a 1988 planting): Good saturated, bright red-ruby. Aromas of black cherry, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate. Fat, lush and round, offering terrific intensity to its black cherry fruit. Finishes with superb length and very suave tannins. Currado is now using more large Stockinger casks for this wine.

Smoke, tar and licorice all flesh out in a Barbera that impresses for its pure drive and pedigree The 2011 Scarrone brings together the fabulous depth and opulence of the year, but with a marvelous sense of restraint.
