Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2014, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2012

As it often is, Picq's 2010 Chablis Vosgros is the most powerful and intense wine in the cellar, but in this vintage it also has gorgeous balance. The 2010 is a seamless, fruit-driven Chablis loaded with richness and intensity. Crushed rocks and wet stones add complexity and depth on the opulent finish.

The 2010 is a seamless, fruit-driven Chablis loaded with richness and intensity. Crushed rocks and wet stones add complexity and depth on the opulent finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. Didier Picq's wines are always on the big side, and that is amplified in 2011. Picq harvested his 2011s from September 6 to 15, which is to say slightly on the late side relative to his peers. Of course, the 2011s are still very young. It will be interesting to see what direction they take over the coming year. The 2010s showed beautifully across the board. (bottled in February of 2012): Pale straw-yellow. Sexy, explosive aromas of powdered stone, orange peel and toasted biscuit. Then much more closed in the mouth, showing superb concentration and tension to the firm flavors of crystallized lime, peach and salty minerals. Really exceptional energy and verve here. The mineral-driven finish offers an uncanny combination of salinity and sucrosite. This wine possesses the sheer density of material to improve in bottle for 15 to 20 years.

Very small vineyard – the first premier cru on the left bank. Chewy and minerally. Chalky rather dry finish. Very fresh. (JR)
