2016 Barbera d'Asti Superiore

La Spinetta's 2016 Barbera d'Asti Ca' di Pian is soft, plummy and very tasty. I would prefer to drink it over the next few years, while the fruit remains vibrant. This is a pretty laid-back style for the Ca' di Pian, which in the past was a much darker and more concentrated wine. Red and purplish berry fruit with a touch of spice is nicely pushed forward by bright acids. The 2016 is absolutely delicious, especially with a little aeration.
