Lemon and lime, crushed stone, mint, and thyme notes emerge from the 2024 Virginie De Valandraud Blanc, a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon. Fresh and focused on the palate, it shows beautifully integrated acidity, medium-bodied depth and richness, and impressive length.

Features notes of fresh limes, green mango, and lemon verbena with touches of chalk dust and honeysuckle. Light-bodied and crisp, the palate is tightly wound with citrus and mineral layers, finishing chalky.
The 2024 Virginie de Valandraud Blanc offers a captivating mix of tension and textural richness. Tangerine peel, marzipan, dried flowers, chamomile and light tropical notes all open in the glass. In 2024, there is a touch of malolactic fermentation in the Sémillon for the first time. More than anything else, I admire the balance here.
Sharp acidity on the opening, good kick and lift, this has a touch more new oak than usual to depth and richness through the palate, and they may lengthen the ageing, so one to retaste in bottle - but a ton of enjoyment already clear. Harvest 12 to 21 September. 3.15 pH. 70% new oak.

One of the first garage wines, Ch. Valandraud was created by Jean-Luc Thunevin – Saint-Emilion’s “bad boy”. Today the style of the wine is much more restrained, and officially classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate.
