Great location with 15ha of vines by Batailley and Grand Puy Lacoste, delivers cassis bud and fragrant raspberry leaf that flirts with stalky but widens through the palate and delivers a mouthwatering, salted cracker style of 2024 Pauillac that is understated and pretty delicious.

The 2024 Haut-Bages Monpelou was tasted from two bottles. The first was a little volatile, but the second was tangibly better. This has blackberry and touches of autumn leaves on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and a nicely composed, slightly piquant finish. It is worth seeking out.
Creme de Cassis, tobacco, and cedar work well with the gentle touch of herbs in the background. Medium-bodied, vibrant, soft, forward, and elegant, you can enjoy this for it fruits, and freshness on release, or age it for 12 or more years. The wine blends 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot.
Firm and tight, this young Pauillac is compacted with rather steely, lightly austere tannins. Medium-bodied, it shows blackcurrants and dark tobacco character. A blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon, 21% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot.
