Bright crimson. Leaf-mould nose and masses of sweet raspberry fruit. Very flattering. Fine tannins. Very neat and contained. (JR)

Ulisse and Giancarlo Cignozzi's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino shows a spot of ripe cherry fruit at its core. That bright fruit accent goes a long way to shape the personality of this dark garnet-ruby Sangiovese. It gives the wine soft contours, a fleshy consistency and immediate appeal. This is one of the few Brunello wines of the vintage that should prove easy to drink in the near and medium-term. Its wood aging sees a combination of tonneaux and large oak casks.
Concentrated ruby with orange tinges. Only hints of spice and dried fruit yet complex. Very closed and compact and embryonic on the palate with a big, but not rough structure. Elegant palate weight and finely tuned balance. Just very closed at the moment. (WS)
