Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2022-2028, Neal Martin, Nov 2022

The 2018 Chablis Les Vaucopins 1er Cru has a fresher bouquet than Picq's questionable Vaucopin, though it is missing some complexity and terroir expression, a little generic perhaps. The palate is balanced with a more saline entry than its peers, moderate weight, touches of yellow fruit and quince, a little short on the finish, yet at least it is focused. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

The 2018 Chablis Les Vaucopins 1er Cru is quintessential Chablis on the nose of Granny Smith apples, petrichor and touches of pressed white flowers. The palate is vibrant and poised, presenting a citrus core of fruit surrounded by traces of blackberry leaf, ginger and dried quince. So much tension here! This is a great Vaucopins from the domaine. Superb.

Apple crumble and flint, with green apple and liquid stones. Brisk and decently long. (TJ)

The 2018 Chablis Les Vaucopin 1er Cru is 15% aged in one- to five-year-old barrels. It has a far superior bouquet to the Chablis Village, featuring pretty citrus and cold stone aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and crisp, and a touch of dried honey on the finish. Not a Chablis with a lot of tension, but it is nicely made.
