Intriguing scent and quite an evolved look but some really interesting flavours. Still the dry tannins and quite marked acidity. Low-key Brunello... Correct but not thrilling. (JR)

Medium red. Enticing aromas of plum, strawberry, dried flowers and spicecake. Sweet and penetrating, with sappy flavors of plum, minerals and leather. Nicely combines density and juiciness, finishing tannic but not hard. An elegant style of sangiovese that may merit an outstanding rating with some time in bottle.
The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is an intense, taut wine that possesses excellent length on the palate. Licorice, spices and oak add a measure of complexity to the dark fruit. Although the wine is formidable in terms of its structure, I don't see enough fruit here to provide balance.
