2015 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet Maltroie 1er Cru

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Maltroie has an attractive bouquet with orange blossom, clear honey and a touch of pralines - all very generous. The palate is well balanced with a lightly honeyed entry, a fine fatness here but perhaps just missing a little persistence on the finish at the moment. It is outflanked by the domaine's other premier crus at this moment, but should meliorate by the time of bottling.

Bright lemon-yellow color. Restrained aromas of mirabelle, yellow flowers and clove. Brisk but not hard, offering a lovely sugar/acid balance to its intense lemon zest and spice flavors. Finishes with good cut but a touch of youthful rigidity. These vines were originally planted in the 1950s but a lot of them have been replaced through the years.
