Note di degustazione
Ripe aromas of apricot and smoky, nutty oak, along with an herbal aspect. Powerful, concentrated and high-toned, with a penetrating quality for a wine from this cellar. A dense, saline style of Montrachet, not currently showing its sweetness or fruit. The strong new oak component (both barrels were new) gives the finish a slightly bitter quality on the back end. Not showing much early sex appeal, although it displayed more flavor intensity with aeration. Also tasted: Chassagne-Montrachet*.

From vines dating back to 1925 and 1930, the intensely aromatic 2002 Montrachet bursts from the glass with resiny minerals, poached pears, and spices. This is a wine of great richness, breadth, and length. Its deep, fleshy, medium-bodied personality offers awesome layers of minerals and quartz. Pure, detailed and ripe, it is a candidate for drinking between 2008 and 2017. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel.
