The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru is the only Premier Cru that had been bottled by November, when I visited the domaine. It was one of the rare cuvées where the malolactic was completed before spring. It has a very satisfying bouquet of citrus peel, almond shavings and light crushed flint aromas. The palate is well balanced with a superb line of acidity. Tension runs throughout this En Remilly from the start to the finish, which conveys an almost Chablis-like flintiness. This has great aging potential.

The 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly was also bottled before harvest 2019, and it's also quite expressive. Wafting from the glass with aromas of white flowers, pear and blanched almonds, it's medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with a more tensile and mineral profile than its Sur Gamay sibling.
South-facing and the sugars can rise quickly so this is harvested early. 20% new oak. Bottled in August 2019. Open and almost blossomy on the nose with a touch of almonds, really expressive already. Rich and full in the mouth, generous and full of citrus fruit, a wine for fruit lovers but it is fresh too. Creamy, mealy and shot through with a seam of acidity. Lovely for beginners as well as old hands. Deep well of fruit. (JH)
