Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2024-2040, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Oct 2018

The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignières unfurls in the glass with a classy bouquet of lemon oil, almond paste, crisp green apple, crushed chalk and a subtle framing of oak vanillin. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with excellent concentration, racy acids and chewy extract that lends the wine lovely structure. While it isn't quite as incisive as the Meursault Village this year, it's more powerful and clearly built for the long haul.

(aging in 30% new oak): Pale, bright yellow. Laid-back aromas of ripe peach and soft citrus fruits. A bit biting on the attack, then tactile and quite dry on the palate, showing good energy and penetrating citrussy acidity to its flavors of peach and spices. There's a touch of exotic lichee here that Coche is not wild about but the wine finishes with impressive length and spicy cut. (Coche told me that he also found the estate's Meursault Caillerets a bit exotic, and thus less transparent to its terroir .)
