The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie 1er Cru is rather heavy-handed with the oak compared to its peers—a little buttery in style, although it does manage to retain delineation. The palate is fresh on the entry with a pleasant tanginess. Fine weight, quite sharp on the finish, perhaps just missing the grace of the best Chassagne 1er Crus in this vintage. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
