The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie is promising, offering up aromas of pear, crisp green apple, lime zest, freshly baked bread and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and elegant, it's fleshy but precise, with lively acids and a long, saline finish.

Fine pale colour. This starts discreetly but clearly shows a fruit concentration to follow. Delicious fruit again with a marine lick to finish, medium weight and length. Maltroie tends to be less exuberant than most Chassagne 1ers Crus though this is a very well made wine. Tasted: December 2021
