Good bright, light yellow. Reticent nose hints at lemon oil and zest, crushed stone and white pepper. Broad in the mouth but taut and discreet today, showing a fine-grained texture to the intense flavors of pineapple and wet stone. Finishes long but youthfully firm-edged, in need of five years of patience. Classic high-slope Perrieres with a bright future.

Green-tinged yellow. Reduced aromas of chalk dust and metal shavings, plus a whiff of oak char. Extremely stony in the mouth, with soil-driven minerality building toward the back. Very closed today but by far the longest and subtlest of these 2011s to this point. Boyer says his piece of Perrieres is "at the top."
