Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2031, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2020

Youthful bright, full ruby. Crushed blackberry, black cherry, licorice, violet and a musky whiff of leather on the nose. Very suave and lively on entry, with intense black fruit and black olive flavors lifted by a floral element. The slightly funky quality on the nose is not apparent in the middle palate. Stands out for its finesse of texture, nicely restrained sweetness, juiciness and delineation of flavor, with its fruit element still quite youthfully vibrant. Finishes with a firm dusting of tannins, a repeating suggestion of wildness and excellent length and lift. Starting to unwind but there's still plenty of positive evolution ahead for this Cabernet, which is a blend from disparate vineyards in Napa Valley.

Dark cherries, plums, smoke and cloves all jump from La Sirena's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an especially dark, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon with tons of near and medium term appeal and gorgeous immediacy but also more than enough stuffing to drink well for years. Sweet spices, menthol, tobacco and licorice flow through to the expressive, layered finish. La Sirena's Cabernet is sourced from a variety of parcels in Calistoga, Pritchard Hill, Atlas Peak, Oakville and St. Helena.

Heidi Barrett has always done marvelous work with Cabernet Sauvignon, and this opaque purple-colored, rich 2010 displays classic notes of smoky creme de cassis intermixed with hints of wood smoke and spice, impressive purity and texture, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It is built for 10-20 years of aging. Tel. (707) 942-1105

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bit more powerful and structured than the 2009. It has less of the early appeal of its older sibling, but plenty of pleasure waiting in store. Smoke, licorice, blackberries and sweet spices are supported by firm, insistent tannins. This is a beautiful, striking wine.
