Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2019-2027, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2019

Moving to the releases from Amador, the 2015 Rompecabezas (which translates to “jigsaw puzzle” in Spanish) is 51% Grenache, 33% Mourvèdre, and the rest Syrah brought up in a mix of neutral barrels and concrete. It offers lots of kirsch and blackberry fruits, spice, and herbes de Provence characteristics, medium to full body, tons of charm, and a fruit-loaded, ready to go style. I suspect it will keep for at least 7-8 years.

The 2015 Rompecabezas is a pliant, supple and super-expressive wine with lifted aromatics and plenty of bright, red-toned fruit. Citrus and floral notes perk up this mid-weight, gracious Grenache-based blend from Favia. The wine's inner sweetness and perfume alone are compelling.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2018-2030, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Dec 2018

Rompecabezas means "jigsaw puzzle" in Spanish—this is a GSM blend made up of 40% Mourvédre, 32% Grenache and 28% Syrah. The Grenache is whole-cluster fermented and co-fermented with the Mourvédre, and the wine ages in neutral French oak and 600-liter concrete eggs for 20 months. Pale to medium garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Rompecabezas Red Wine opens with smoked meats, black raspberries, Black Forest cake and spice cake with earthy nuances of truffles, underbrush and tar plus a waft of violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate dances with red and black fruits plus plenty of spice and earth accents, framed by lovely plush tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and savory. 282 cases produced.
