Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2024-2032, Eric Guido, Vinous, Aug 2024

The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is remarkably fresh despite its twenty years of maturity, with a cascade of dried roses, mint and sage paving the way for notes of plum sauce, worn leather and spice. It’s soft and round with a pretty inner sweetness. Vibrant acidity propels its ripe red berry fruits across the palate with ease. An earthy mineral tinge lingers as the 2004 maintains perfect form, tapering off juicy and long with fully resolved tannins and the slightest tug of sour citrus that pinches at the cheeks. Perfect maturity.

Dark ruby with a little evolution at the rim. Big and round and ripe. Quite a sweet blockbuster on the nose. Then lots of ripe, if dusty, tannins on the palate and almost painful acidity. No holds barred on this wine. Sunbaked indeed. Sweet start. Bit of a bruiser but not vapid and not sickly. (JR)

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2013-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2009

Talenti's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the more intensely fragrant wines in this vintage. Sweet layers of perfumed fruit flow effortlessly onto the palate, framed by silky tannins that give the wine its sense of balance and poise. This is a deceptively medium-bodied wine, yet it packs plenty of punch, not to mention tons of complexity. This pleasing, beautifully balanced Brunello is drinking well today and should continue to offer plenty of pleasure over the next decade and a half. Talenti and consulting oenologist Carlo Ferrini gave the 2004 Brunello two and a half years in 500-liter French oak barrels.

Talenti is one of the historic names in Montalcino. In recent years the wines have struck a gorgeous balance in a style that combines elements of modern and traditional styles.
