This offers some slightly muffled, wooly aromas with dried herbs wrapped around some dried spiced cherries. The palate has attractive fresh and succulent dark fruit, dusted in cocoa. Drink over the next five years.

Good bright, deep red. Sweet, oak-influenced aromas of currant, vanilla and graphite, plus a whiff of tar. The strong oak spice element is leavened by raspberry and currant fruit but this nonetheless comes across as quite oaky for all its sweetness.
Dark crimson with a greyish rim. Attractive Tuscan tingle to the nose of this wine. Then pretty sweet and polished on the palate – positively smoothed! Sinewy and refreshing enough. Racy. Quite a bit of energy here though not, I think, a desperately long life. (JR)
The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is plump and juicy in its dark plums, cherries and spices. It is an especially inviting Brunello for the expansive, warm nature of its fruit. The wine possesses plenty of depth and richness, yet could use a touch more complexity. Overall, this is a simple style of ripe Brunello best enjoyed on the young side.
