Note di degustazione
Medium-deep red. Expressive nose melds dark plum, cassis, chocolate, spicecake and leather. Wonderfully rich and chewy, with superconcentrated, exhilaratingly high-toned flavors of sweet plum, camphor and leather. Plenty of power on display here. Finishes big and broad, with dusty, fine-grained tannins building in the glass. Classic Brunello: big and rich but polished.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino reveals pretty, expressive aromatics and focused fruit on a linear, mid-weight frame. This appears to have quite a bit of potential but elements of austerity keep the fruit from fully emerging. Still, there is plenty of intrigue to this classically-styled, cask-aged Brunello. My sense is that these vineyards are capable of much more, though.
Crimson with lighter rim. New oak, very ripe fruit, with a hint of cherry and black tea. Looks simple at first, but gains on the finish. Chewy tannin. (WS)
