Deep, dark red with ruby tones. Precise, high-pitched aromas of cassis, licorice, violet, lead pencil, sage and earthy spices. Dense, suave and silky, with a light touch and terrific energy to the flavors of minerals, dark fruits and cola. This layered wine really spreads out to cover the palate and builds on the long aftertaste. Noble tannins here.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a deep, intense wine laced with black cherries, minerals, crushed flowers, and violets. This shows superb polish and elegance all the way through to the textured, expansive finish. La Rasina's Brunello is one of the more opulent wines of the vintage but all of the elements come together quite nicely, especially with some time in the glass.

Very dark, concentrated ruby with very small, orange rim. New-oak-driven fruit nose. Cherry with a touch of dried fruit on the palate. At first it looked like it could not stand up to the oak, and the tannic load, but fruit comes out fine at the end. (WS)
