La Togata's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino La Togata dei Togati offers up dark red cherries, flowers, minerals, and licorice in an attractive, delicate style. The wine reveals excellent balance even if the intensity of the fruit tapers off a touch on the finish. Nothing in particular stands out, yet the balance and sense of harmony are both impeccable. Floral notes add a sense of lift to the silky, finessed close.
