The 1970 Clos de Tart Grand Cru falls flat on its face, displaying smudged mushroom scents and bacon fat on the unclean nose, which fades in the glass. The palate is dominated by hard tannin, and the austere, blunt finish indicates that this is long past its best. Tasted at the Clos de Tart vertical at Ten Trinity in London.
