Very pale and bright. A little more subtlety on the nose than some. Broad and rewarding already with some real richness. A please-all style. Verging on J-M Boillot-esque! Powerful. Though not flabby. Fermented lemon cough sweets. If you’re looking for a wine to make a splash… Still just a little astringency on the end. (JR)

Full bright yellow. Ripe aromas of lemon, peach, orange oil, jasmine, spices and dusty herbs. A sexy, sweet fruit bomb in the mouth; full and rich if a bit unrefined, finishing with a tactile phenolic quality. Already satisfying but should be better for a year of patience.
The 2009 Meursault Les Tessons is another delicious wine with expressive fruit and an open, accessible personality. I like the juiciness here, but the Tessons doesn’t seem to quite have the complexity or character of the finest wines here, at least not today. Ideally, it needs to be enjoyed over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. Fichet was among the first producers to harvest in 2009. Picking began on September 2 and lasted just 5 days as opposed to the more typical 7-8. The wines spent 12 months in oak followed by 6 months in steel. These are some of the most bright, tense wines of the vintage. In that sense, they don’t have a lot of vintage character per se, despite being very appealing. Chalky mineral nose and great intensity. Reverberant. Very well done. (JR)
